Albertina (the museum itself) · Künstlerhaus, Karlsplatz 5
Entry to Albertina Modern, the museum's second building in the Künstlerhaus on Karlsplatz, sold by the Albertina itself. It is for modern and contemporary art, and it does not get you into the main Albertina.

Read this first: Albertina Modern is a different building. It sits in the Künstlerhaus at Karlsplatz 5, about a 10-minute walk from the main museum on Albertinaplatz, and this ticket covers only its exhibition halls on the ground and basement floors. No State Rooms, no Monet to Chagall. The most common bad review on this listing comes from people who meant to buy the main Albertina entry ticket and picked this one. The museum's combined ticket (EUR 29.90 in 2026) covers both buildings, one entry each, on different days if you like.
If modern art is what you want, the building is a draw of its own. The Künstlerhaus was built in 1865 as a gift to the city's artists from Emperor Franz Joseph, and Albertina Modern opened here on 27 May 2020. Its shows draw on the museum's holdings, with the Essl Collection at the heart of them. Right now that means Vasarely & Adrian. Dynamic Grids, Op Art from the 1950s on, until 10 January 2027, and Franz West. The Revolution of Sculpture from 6 November 2026.
Reviews are mixed: 3.9 stars from 94, with value for money scored lower. Two complaints come up: the wrong-building mix-up, and floors closed for private events on the day. The museum offers no audio guide here at the moment. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with no late evening. Looking for Klimt's The Kiss? It is not at the Albertina. It hangs in the Upper Belvedere, and the Upper Belvedere ticket has a time slot.
Make sure you want Karlsplatz 5, not Albertinaplatz 1. This ticket is for Albertina Modern only.
The pale neo-Renaissance building on Karlsplatz, a short walk from Karlsplatz U-Bahn station (U1, U2, U4) and about 10 minutes on foot from the main Albertina.
A guest notes the lockers in the basement are free, so you can drop coats and bags before the halls.
Walk the halls on the ground and basement floors: Vasarely and Adrian's Op Art, and Franz West once it opens.
Step out onto the square and the domed Karlskirche across the pond. The State Opera is a few minutes away.
★★★★★It was all very interesting, especially the exhibitions of the various artists
★★★★★Very nice exhibition. Also like that the clothes/coat storage in the lockers in the basement is free. So you can enjoy the exhibition without a bag or luggage.
