This bundle is sold by WeGoTrip, an audio-tour app, not by the museum. After booking you get an e-mail and a text message with a link. Install the free WeGoTrip app (or open the tour in a web browser): your entry ticket and the audio tour both live there. The tour has audio commentary, maps, photos and written scripts, and runs about 1.5 hours if you follow it straight through.

The ticket gets you into the State Rooms and the exhibitions; the listing says special exhibitions depend on the museum's schedule. There is no live guide. You need your own headphones, a charged phone and the tour downloaded before you go. One guest wrote that the audio would not start in the museum, so test it at your hotel first. The museum has free Wi-Fi if you need to reload.

It is a small listing: 4.4 stars from 14 reviews, against thousands for the museum's own Albertina entry ticket. Albertina Modern on Karlsplatz is not included. Looking for Klimt's The Kiss? It is not at the Albertina. It hangs in the Upper Belvedere, and the Upper Belvedere ticket has a time slot.

   WeGoTrip sends a link by e-mail and text message. Install the free app, or open the tour in your browser.

2. The night beforeDownload and test

   Download the tour on Wi-Fi and press play once at home. Charge the phone and pack wired or wireless headphones.

3. ArrivalUp to the bastion

   Head to Albertinaplatz 1 and up the escalator to the entrance. Leave backpacks and umbrellas in the free lockers on Level -1.

4. About 1.5 hFollow the audio

   Start the route in the State Rooms: chandeliers, parquet floors and Louis-seize furniture, with the history in your ear.

5. Your paceInto the galleries

   Carry on into the art galleries and the exhibitions running on the day. Pause the audio and stay as long as you like.

Tips before you book

• Download the tour before the day and test the first track at home. The provider recommends it, and one guest's audio would not start in the museum.
• Bring headphones that fit your phone. None are handed out.
• Charge to 100% or carry a power bank: the ticket and the audio are on the same phone.
• Pick a Wednesday or Friday evening, when the museum stays open until 9 p.m.
• Albertina Modern is not part of the bundle. For the second building on Karlsplatz, add the Albertina Modern ticket.
